Oral Health Review (Examination)

During the dental examination the dentist will undertake a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums and soft tissues (tongue, cheeks). The dentist will also carry out an extra-oral examination to assess the salivary glands and lymph nodes. Each examination will include a risk assessment for decay, gum disease and oral cancer.

Before looking in the mouth, the dentist will ask you questions related to your dental health. These will include questions such as why you have come, if there are any problems you have noticed, information on your diet, and information on whether you smoke or drink. All of these questions provide information that affects your dental care. They will also ask you questions related to your general medical health as certain medical conditions and medication can affect dental care.

We recommend regular examinations to allow us to spot problems and correct them before things become more complicated.
